Cottony Ash Psyllid

Cottony ash psyllid (CAP) is an invasive insect and was found in 2017, in Manitoba. The CAP infects Manchurian ash trees, black ash trees, and hybrids of these two species. Surveys to find additional infestations are ongoing.

Adults:

  • are small; three millimetres in length (only slightly larger than an aphid)
  • have yellow and black markings
  • have clear wings with shading towards the tips
  • can jump
